INTECH International has developed a series of EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) tools for application machining, and MDM (Metal Disintegration Machining) tools which provide a unique option for metal cutting in extreme environments. This system is used extensively in the removal of heat exchanger tube samples.

The new Sinker EDM Head was developed for special application machining. The system has been used for tube sample removal, tube support sample removal, and pipe venting. The head has various clamping fixtures and electrode configurations available.

The MDM tooling is compatible with various AC and DC welding power supplies. The process can be used underwater, and can access locations that are impossible to reach with standard machining processes. The system is capable of severing tubes or cutting viewing windows from the ID at distances up to 75 feet and is designed to operate in any position; overhead, horizontal, downward, and operates in curved tubes.
